Code of conduct and ethos
We are looking to develop confident young footballers at Whitchurch Sports Junior FC. They should not have to worry about making mistakes while learning the game and should enjoy the experience of competitive football and have fun. The players should be encouraged to express themselves and make decisions (some good, some not so good) without fear of criticism. Our expectations of performance should be modified to meet the capabilities of the children. The behaviour and attitude of our coaches, players and supporters not only reflect on them but the club as a whole. We have therefore adopted the following Code of Conduct:
1. Encourage only (no negative comments)
2. Positively support all players and praise their achievements
3. When offering advice please ensure that it is given in a positive manner
4. Support the importance of team play and team spirit
5. Respect the opposition in both victory and defeat. Applaud the opposition as well as our own team.
6. Do not shout and scream (remain calm, relax and enjoy the game)
7. Respect officials at all times (do not question the referee’s decisions)
8. Be positive role models in terms of attitude and sportsmanship
9. Do not use or tolerate inappropriate language (no swearing/abuse/racism or sarcasm)
10. Let the coaches coach (please try to avoid coaching the children during the game,
It may conflict with the coaches instructions and lead to confusion)
11. Be supportive at all times (support the coach, the players and the club) play your part
12. Keep football in its proper perspective, enjoy it and have fun!
